I had it all—a successful hockey career, the respect and adoration of the fans, a rotation of beautiful women warming my bed, and a feeling of self-worth and contentment with the direction of my life. But that all changed the day the team plane went down, taking my only chance of redemption with it. Now I’m left with the daily reminder of all my failures and my inability to correct them.

My new teammates are tired of my attitude and following my suspension, I hole up in a mountain cabin to get away from all of it. The isolation is exactly what I need to get out of my own head, and I’m beginning to think I could be content in this quiet forever.

Tillie Marshall isn’t the type of woman who would usually catch my attention, yet she manages to do so for all the wrong reasons. I’m here for the peace and seclusion but the quirky artist is hell-bent on destroying that by cutting down the trees that separate our properties so she can open a pottery studio. If it’s a fight she wants, it’s a fight she’ll get. I have the money and the time and no issues bringing her down through the court system. While I see flashes of steely determination within her, I’ve found that being a jerk comes naturally these days and she won’t be hard to intimidate.

Unfortunately, that gorgeous and somewhat odd neighbor who has been causing me grief is creating another type of feeling within me. And once that spark is lit, Tillie displays a faith in me that for the first time since the crash I desperately want to believe. Now it’s time for me to step up and become the man—no, a better man than I once was.

Coen Book Reviews

Been waiting for this and LOVED IT
This series has owned me. Through all the feels! Every. Single. One. I have waited for this book and it didn’t disappoint. I have felt for Coen and all that he lost. This book helped me understand where it was all coming from. And flipping adored Tilly. So much. And Coen’s defense of her. I. Loved. This.

Loved it!
Talk about a broody male, Coen is the epitome of one as he navigates his life. He lives with guilt and is punishing himself through most of the story. A hockey player for the Titans he survived the teams’ plane crash as he had the flu. He is surly, argumentative and an all around negative person. He buys a cabin in the woods where he doesn’t have to be or speak with anyone….ahhh the best laid plans did not include neighbor, Tillie, an all around sweet optimistic person. A great story once again from Sawyer Bennett where we have a wounded , broody male and a sunshine sweetie. I love these stories and hope they never end!

The Lucky Three…
The Lucky Three…dubbed so for surviving the plane crash that killed the Pittsburgh Titans hockey team and the supporting staff. Only, Coen Highsmith didn’t feel so lucky. He was tortured! Coen Highsmith spent months making every member on the Titans miserable. All of his teammates reached out to try and help him, but he didn’t feel worthy of such brotherhood. It wasn’t until he was suspended and offered the chance to get away to a secluded cabin, that he faced his demons—with a little help from his neighbor Tillie. After the loss of her parents, Tillie used the money to purchase a house that had enough land and an easement to fulfill her dreams. Like her parents, Tillie is artistic. She wanted to build a place where she can teach art classes and have other artists come out and be able to sculpt, work with pottery, etc. The one thing holding her back is her miserable neighbor. While she admits he’s gorgeous and there is a spark, she hates that he may be thwarting her dreams! So, Coen sues Tillie over easement rights. While she’s furious, she’s also fascinated. Coen and Tillie are COMBUSTIBLE! They are hot together, yet confusing. I love how protective Coen is over Tillie, even though he “hates” her. He doesn’t allow her to be bullied! Tillie is tough when she needs to be and not afraid to give Coen a piece of her mind. Little by little, Tillie is able to peel back the layers to Coen’s anger, anguish. She helps him believe and forgive himself because he/they can’t move on until he does. Frankly, I think Chip stole the show:). I highly recommend this novel! Sawyer Bennett is an amazing author who doesn’t disappoint. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

So excited for Coen’s story!
So excited for Coen’s story! Being one of the three original players who weren’t on the plane that day, Coen has presented with extreme survivors’ guilt and has really just lashed out blatantly in the previous books. When presented with the option to hole up in a remote cabin away from everyone and the city, he jumps at the chance and buys it from another player. Tillie has purchased a remote property where she can both live and build an art studio to further her career and giving back to the community. All that comes to a halt when Tillie meets her new neighbor Coen, who vehemently refuses the building and driveway, and dares her to move forward and he will take her to court, which he does. Things change for both of them when they start to get to know each other and spend time together thanks to Tillie’s childhood bullies and Coen sticking up for her. This was such an emotional story because we see Coen deal with his survivors’ guilt and his feelings for Tillie. I can’t wait for the next book – I can’t get enough of this series! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Coen and Tillie
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book four in the series but it easily stands alone. This is a series about a hockey team that flies back from its game when the plane crashes with no survivors. There are only three teammates left who were not killed because they were ill or injured prior to the game and this story is about one of the so called "Lucky Three," Coen Highsmith. As the story begins Coen has quit the team and run away to live in the woods at his buddy and teammate, Stones cabin. There he meets his neighbor, artist Tillie who wants to cut down some trees. Largely Coen is a Beauty and the Beast story. Coen hates himself and he is miserable. Tillie wants to cut down some trees to build an art gallery but those trees to Coen represent his protection against the world. But Tillie does not go quietly. She has a lot of fun torturing the guy and she brings Coen out of his shell and helps him find the beauty inside of him. This is largely a story about forgiveness and learning to forgive yourself. It's also about friendship and acceptance that no matter who we are, we all make mistakes and that no one is perfect. Life is about living it and appreciating all the good we have in life. This was an enemy to love romance and also about learning to forgive yourself. There are not many sports related activity in this story as Coen has quit as the story begins and it takes place during the summer in the off season. But it's a wonderful story about forgiveness, friendship and LOVE!
